7.30pm                 The18th Century Concert Orchestra

Christchurch, Radford Street, Stone

We are delighted to welcome to Stone one of the country’s finest period ensemble orchestras. The 18th Century Concert Orchestra will perform works by Handel (The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba), Vivaldi (Cello Concerto), Bach (Double Violin Concerto) and Handel (Contralto Arias).

The 18th Century Concert Orchestra communicates the brilliance and drama of baroque music, combining period instruments, candlelight and resplendent 18th-century attire to present a uniquely atmospheric recreation of 18th-century musical life.

A typical evening: the scene is set by Mr. Holt, dedicated Master of Candles, providing illumination before the musicians appear in their strikingly colourful costumes. The authentic 18th-century elements: period instruments, wooden music desks, individually tailored shoes and costumes, mohair wigs, candlelight and readings.

Tickets costing £15 are available from Tim Toft Violins, 7-9 Station Rd, Stone, 01785 811860. For more information see www.timtoftviolins.com Supported by Tim Toft Violins

A gourmet food and wine dinner as part of the stone music festival with live music from East Anglian singer, songwriter and musician Michael Robbins who has played on the Norfolk music scene for nearly thirty years, in a variety of bands. He has covered a wide range of styles from blues to rock, in groups ranging from duos to seven piece ensembles. He plays mainly keyboards, including piano, organ and electric piano, but also plays acoustic and electric slide guitar, mostly in the blues style. He tries to be eclectic in the choice of songs he sings, not relying on the standard rock repertoire. His choice of material has been described as “wilfully obscure”, but he prefers to call it “interesting”. Whatever, it is not your regular fare; he hopes you enjoy it
