Welcome to the Second Stone Music Festival 2009
Welcome back to the programme for the second Stone Music Festival which takes place from 10th - 12th July. This year the festival will begin on Friday 10th July and is opened by performances from our local schools. The festival will continue over the weekend with a variety of music which will appeal to all tastes and ages and will culminate with a day-long staged event in Stone's High Street on Sunday 12th with picnic tables and a finale from two well known tribute bands. First Ballroom Glitz and then internationally acclaimed Abba tribute band, Abba Gold. This year the festival has a 70’s fancy dress theme, so come along on Sunday 12th in your fancy dress and maybe you will pick up a prize in our competition!
The festival has once again been organized by members of Stone Music Festival Voluntary Group and aims to assist in the development of music talent within the town, to encourage performers to visit Stone for the purposes of performing and to promote the town of Stone as an attraction to those interested in music. The festival will promote events across a range of venues satisfying all musical tastes ranging from classical music, jazz, folk and blues through to contemporary rock and pop. Our very popular busking competition will be repeated this year – again with cash prizes. The festival voluntary group has been fortunate in securing the support of Stone Town Council whom we thank for sponsoring the Sunday event. Sponsorship has also been provided by Stafford Borough Council for the busking competition and Staffordshire Arts.
The music festival is a non-profit making venture and aims to promote the event as an annual festival in Stone. For this reason, we will be collecting donations during the festival weekend. Please give generously at each performance. Please look for the red collection tins and buckets or enquire about becoming a sponsor, or ‘friend’ of the festival by calling Kate Moss on 01785 818487 or contacting her at k.moss@wlv.ac.uk All proceeds will go towards the funding of the festival.
