No Stone Music Festival this year
After two successful record breaking years, the organisers of the Stone Music Festival have decided not to hold an event this year and instead concentrate on making 2011 better than ever.
The event is one of the West Midlands last “free” music festivals and was to have taken place in July. However the organising committee has decided that the lack of a major sponsor and the poor state of the economy would mean staging a reduced event, something they were not keen to do.
Festival Chairman Steve Brookes praised the people of the town for their enthusiasm and explained that because of its success it was essential that each event was bigger - not smaller.
“We have not ruled out individual concerts over the coming months to raise funds for next year, but want to focus the team’s energies on a bigger and better 2011 Festival,” he said.
“We’ve proved we can put on a festival that appeals to local music makers and attract a good audience for them: last year thousands flocked to the various events we put on, and the town’s high street was packed for the final concert by Abba Gold,” he said, adding “we don’t want to be responsible for a scaled down Festival that disappoints, and so damages our prospects for good audiences in the future.”
Meanwhile the search for an event sponsor continues for the Stone Music Festival 2011. |
